GEORGE WARREN WESLEY George Warren Wesley, son of George Mathias and Florence Anna DeWitt Wesley, was born, May 4, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois. He departed this life, Sunday, March 22, 2015, in Windsor Estates Care Center, Camdenton, Missouri at the age of ninety-five years, ten months and eighteen days. On March 29 1947 in Chicago, Illinois, he was united in marriage to Esther Irene Wellander and to this union four children were born. Together they shared fifty years of marriage before her passing on October 27, 1997. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Josiah Shelhamer and a brother, Bob Wesley. Survivors include his children, James Wesley and wife Marguerite of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Lynda Shelhamer and husband John of Manitou Springs, Colorado, George E. Wesley of Camdenton, Missouri and Lois Wesley of The Springs, Florida; seven grandchildren, Liebe Barry, Coby Wesley, Caleb Wesley, John Shelhamer, Amber Finch, Zach Shelhamer and Edith Nieweglwski; four great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many friends. George was raised in Chicago and was a graduate of Lakeview High School. He served his country proudly in the United State Army during World War II. After being honorably discharged, he attended Moody Bible Institute and later moved to Lake of the Ozarks to accept a position as the Bookkeeper for New Tribes Missions. George made a profession of faith as a young adult. He would go to Windsor Estates Care Center and gather his “kids” as he led church services for twenty-eight years. There he preached and played the harmonica and electric saxophone. As a young adult, he was a member of a boy’s club in Chicago called the Paul Raider’s White Shirt Brigade. He was recently awarded a medal for his service in World War II. He loved music; it seemed most conversations led to a song. He loved fishing and at one time caught over 125 fish in one day in Colorado. Most of all, time spent with his family and friends were special to him. He was a loving father and grandfather and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Graveside funeral services and burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 27, 2015 in Big Niangua Cemetery, Roach, Missouri followed by video and lunch at Graceland Church. Memorial donations may be made to a fund established for a memorial gift to Windsor Estates Care Center and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
