Georgette Lehmuth

GEORGETTE A. LEHMUTH Georgette Adolphine Lehmuth, daughter of George and Madeline Riou Marchand, was born November 8, 1922, in St. Lunaire, France. She departed this life Tuesday, February 12, 2008, in Windsor Estates, in Camdenton, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, three months, and four days. On October 1, 1945, in Paris, France, she was united in marriage to Edward C. "Bud" Lehmuth, and to this union two daughters and three sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud, on October 23, 1999; a son, John M. Lehmuth; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, E.C. Lehmuth, Sr., and Charolette Lehmuth. Georgette is survived by two daughters, Joan C. Lehmuth, of Camdenton, Missouri, and Sister Georgette Lehmuth, of Long Island, New York; two sons, George E. Lehmuth, and his wife, Sue, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Marc A. Lehmuth, and his wife, Cindy, of Kennesaw, Georgia; a daughter-in-law, Joanne Lehmuth, of Jefferson City, Missouri; twenty-four grandchildren, Christopher Lehmuth, and his fiancee, Holly, Lindsey Lehmuth, Amanda Lehmuth, Joseph Lehmuth, Rebecca Lehmuth, Peter Lehmuth, Mallorie Lehmuth, Jack Lehmuth, Emma Lehmuth, Alain Lehmuth, and his wife, Jennifer, all of St. Louis, Missouri, Austyn Lehmuth, and his wife, Liz, of Kansas City, Missouri, Samatha Lehmuth, of Atlanta, Georgia, Natalie Lehmuth, of Kennesaw, Georgia, Ann Peters, and her husband, Stephen, Madeline Koch, and her husband, Nathan, all of St. Charles, Missouri, Christophe Lehmuth, and his wife, Lauren, of Stafford, Virginia, James Lehmuth, and his wife, Julie, of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Catherine Ulrich, and her husband, Charles, of Holts Summit, Missouri, Erica Lehmuth, Aimee Lehmuth, Daniel Lehmuth, Gabrielle Lehmuth, Timothy Lehmuth, and Christina Lehmuth, all of Jefferson City, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Madeline Rigault, of St. Lunaire, France; and many friends, including a special friend, Bobbie Swanson, of Camdenton, Missouri. She lived in different towns in France, while she was growing up as Georgette's father was an electrical engineer for generator plants, and the family made their home in various towns where the plants were being built. After graduating from high school she earned her Masters Degree in surgical dentistry from the Sorbonne in Paris, France. During the occupation of France by the Nazis in World War II, she served in the French Resistance. She met her future husband, Bud, who was serving in the U.S. Army, during the war and they were soon married. Georgette and Bud made their home in St. Louis, Missouri in 1946, and lovingly raised their children. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Georgette also worked as a French teacher for several years. In 1990, she and Bud moved to the Lake of the Ozarks. Georgette was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Camdenton, Missouri. She was a member and former president of the St. Louis chapters of Alliance Francaise, and the Sister Cities International, and had been president of the Council of Catholic Women. She belonged to the St. Louis Ambassadors, the St. Louis Builders Association, and the St. Anthony's Crafty Ladies. She had served as minister of the Eucharist at Lake Regional Hospital and the Ozark Care Center. Among her many awards and achievements her most memorable and important was when she became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1952. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, and had made booties for the newborn babies at Lake Regional Hospital. She also was an avid reader, liked doing crossword puzzles, and was a gourmet cook. She loved to dance and she and Bud belonged to the Big Band Club and enjoyed dancing to the Big Band music. Before her husband's passing in 1999, she liked to go fishing from the dock and taking their boat out on the water. Georgette was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 16, 2008 in St. Anthony Catholic Church, Camdenton under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Friday in the funeral home with a Rosary beginning at 7:30 p.m. Committal service and burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 18, 2008 in Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel in St. Louis, Missouri. Memorial donations may be made to the Franciscan Sisters of Kirkwood, Missouri, Alzheimer's Association or Windsor Estates Courtyard Fund and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
