GERRY BUCKMASTER Gerald Allen Buckmaster, son of Harvey and Mabel Amanda Carlson Buckmaster, was born November 30, 1925 in West Allis, Wisconsin. He departed this life Thursday, February 2, 2012, in his home, in Camdenton, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years, two months and three days. On December 22, 1948, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, and his best friend, Jane E. Donovan and to this union one son was born. Together they shared fifty-four years of marriage until her passing on January 24, 2003. Gerry is survived by his son, Kevin Buckmaster and his wife Cheri of Lebanon, Missouri; a grandson, Patrick Buckmaster of Portland, Oregon; two brothers, Harley Buckmaster and his companion Rose Krueger of Plover, Wisconsin, and David Buckmaster of Wisconsin; a sister, Yvonne Gruba and her husband Jack of Stevens Point, Wisconsin; a brother-in-law, Jack Donovan and his wife, Irene, of Niagara Wisconsin; and a host of other relatives and many friends. Gerry was raised in Rice Lake, Wisconsin and graduated from P. J. Jacobs High School in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II. He sailed on the Queen Elizabeth to Scotland, then on to South Wales. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, then on to Sissonne, south of Rheims, and Marseille. He then went to Okinawa via the Panama Canal. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to Wisconsin and was later married. They made their home in Stevens Point, Wisconsin and raised their son. He worked in the trucking industry most of his life. They retired to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1996. While at the lake, Gerry worked at Windermere Baptist Convention Center and volunteered for Meals-On-Wheels. He was a long-time member of the Stevens Point Country Club and Independent Order of Odd Fellows. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. Spending time with his family was most important to him. Gerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. No formal funeral service will be held. Memorial donations may be made to Camden County Library District and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
