Gidget Diane Blair

Gidget D. Blair, 76, of Climax Springs Missouri passed away peacefully at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach Missouri on February 12th, 2024. She was born July 3, 1947 in Pasadena, California to Edith M. Olafson and Frederick J. Luikart.

Gidget, the most caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend was survived by her daughter, Candi and husband Jason Sharp Sr of Climax Springs, MO; son Jason and wife Marcy Blair of Elbert, CO; son, Robert Jr and Melanie Blair of Escondido, CA; brother Bobby and wife Cindy Luikart of Ramona, CA; nephew Steven Olafson of Sand Point, ID; niece Jennifer Lynn of Applevalley, CA; niece Michelle Jenson of CA; Nephew Bobby Luikart Jr of CA; granddaughter Hollie Sharp and fiancé Nicholas Sloan of Springfield, MO; grandson Jason Sharp Jr and fiancé Lauren Walters of Kettering, OH; granddaughter Zoe Hunt of NC; Jason Blair Jr. of CO; granddaughter Brandi Blair of Las Cruces, NM; and great granddaughter Emma Sharp and boyfriend Logan Reynolds of Springfield, MO.

Upon graduation from Pomona high school in 1965, Gidget spent the next few years raising her daughter and working. In the 1970s, Gidget found a love for her career job of 38 years in being a cross-country semi truck driver. She was one of the first female drivers in the industry. At that time, many male drivers harped on her about doing the job. Gidget, being the headstrong stubborn Italian that she was, proved her worth on the truck. She was one of the best there was. She learned how to work on her own motor, backed her and other trailers into some of the tightest loading docks, and had no problems with moving her loads around. She was always so proud of the fact that she ended her career with over 1,000,000 miles. During her years of trucking, she met the love of her life Robert “Bob” C. Blair, also a truck driver, in a truck-stop. Her and Bob decided they couldn’t live “miles” apart and decided to partner up and drive together. Gidget and Bob spent many years and miles on the road and worked magnificently together. In 1989, they got married and spent the rest of her career years driving together.

Her career came to an abrupt halt when in the early 2000s she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Gidget then found her home in Brookings Oregon, where she spent her next many years with family and friends and enjoying her life. In 2012, Bob suddenly passed away unexpectedly. Gidget’s health began to decline over the next years to come. In 2018, her daughter, Candi moved her out to her final home in Climax Springs Missouri. Candi had an apartment built on her land overlooking Lake of the Ozarks and was Gidget’s caretaker for the remainder of her life. Gidget always enjoyed going out on the boat and enjoying the sun, listening to music, and being with her family.

Gidget was proceeded in death by her mother, Edith M. Olafson; father Fredrick J. Luikart, brother Steven Olafson, aunt Virginia A. and husband Don Loar; and the love of her life Robert C. Blair.

Gidget was a truly amazing woman whose impact will forever be felt by her friends and family. Her passing will forever be felt and missed. Her love for her friends and family will forever be ingrained in all she knew.

A celebration of life will take place in Climax Springs, Missouri on July 4, 2024 for anyone who can attend.
