Harold "Greg" Gregory Gottreu

Harold “Greg” Gregory Gottreu, son of Wayne Gottreu and Francis Marion Gottreu, was born, September 11, 1947 in Aurora, Missouri. He departed this life, February 25, 2025, in his home, Camdenton, Missouri at the age of seventy-seven years, four months and fourteen days.

On January 28, 1969 Greg was united in marriage to Linda Magelssen and to this union a son was born. Together they shared fifty-six years of marriage

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Gottreu.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Gottreu of Camdenton, Missouri; son Nils and wife Shannon Gottreu; sister Joyce and husband Don Disbrow; sister Roxanne and husband Ken Hale; sisters-in-law, Deanna Gottreu, Lenore Magelssen, and Dianne and husband Don Elleman; other relatives and many friends.

Greg graduated from Raytown High School in 1965 and then the University of Missouri, Columbia in 1971 where he was a Drum Major of the Marching Band.

He lived a full life of service to others as a Raytown Police Department Reserve Officer, Airman in the Air Force Reserve, sang in a Barbershop Quartet, Coached Little League baseball, and spent almost a decade as President of King’s Point Homeowners Association. Throughout his life, Greg’s efforts were recognized multiple times, including Airman of the Year in 1974, and many awards from Dial Corporation and Cambell Soup Company, from which he holds two patents.

In his spare time Greg enjoyed playing and composing music, creating art and poetry, and flying as a private pilot. He played piano, saxophone, clarinet, guitar, and organ, among others, and composed many songs, three of which were recorded.

He was a loving and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 pm at in the Funeral Home with a social hour from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm when family and friends will give presentations honoring his life. The presentations will be live streamed on Allee-Holman-Howe’s Facebook page for those who can not attend.

In leu of flowers, the family recommends donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Greg’s name. Donations may be left at the funeral home.
