HAROLD LEO LONG Harold Leo Long, son of Harold Glen and Janie Ruth Bailey Long, was born, March 29, 1927 in Waynesville, Missouri. He departed this life, Tuesday, March 9, 2010, in Richland Care Center, Richland, Missouri at the age of eighty-two years, eleven months and nine days. On May 7, 1949 in Richland, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Betty Lou Shivers and to this union, one son was born. Together they shared the past sixty years. He was preceded in death by his parents; two-brothers, Howard Dale Long and Roy Cleo Long his twin. Survivors include his wife, Betty Long of the home; a son, Dennis Long of Montreal, Missouri; a brother, Jack Long and wife Mattie of Montreal, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was raised in the Fort Leonard Wood area and at the age of fourteen the family moved to the Montreal area. After school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country at the end of WWII. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to Montreal where he met and married Betty. They owned an operated Long Brothers General Merchandise store in Montreal with his twin brother and sister-in-law. He was a bus driver for Camdenton Schools for twenty-three years as well as being a well-known farmer and stockman. Leo made a profession of faith and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Richland where he served as a deacon. He was a farmer through and through and enjoyed attending cattle sales. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 12, 2010 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Montreal Cemetery, Montreal. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday in the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
