Harvey Childers

William "Harvey" Childers, son of William Harvey and Henrietta Julia Walker, was born Monday, November 17, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri. He departed this life, Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at his home, at the age of sixty-six years, one month and twenty-three days. In 1965, he was united in marriage at Norborne, Missouri to his children's mother and now his best friend, Betty. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his best friend and mother of his children, Betty Childers of Camdenton, Missouri; his children, Lisa Selby and husband Kenny of Camdenton, Missouri, Buddy Childers and wife Rachael of Camdenton, Missouri, Julie Enboden and husband Adam of Camdenton, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, Koty Zuroweste of Camdenton, Missouri, Cale Childers of Columbia, Missouri, Dustin Warren of Camdenton, Missouri, Leslie Warren of Liberty, Missouri and Autumn Selby of Camdenton, Missouri; sister, Mary Kate Williams and husband Jim of Lee's Summit, Missouri; a niece Emily Aldenderfer and husband Rich of Lee's Summit, Missouri. He was reared in the Lee's Summit, Missouri area and had attended school at Southwest Elementary, Independence Junior High and was a graduate of the class of 1960 from Lee's Summit High School. Harvey had worked in banking for a total of twenty-three years, which eighteen of these years he was the Vice-President of Camden County Bank of Camdenton, Missouri. He had also been employed at Clarks Concrete and Darron Properties as Construction Supervisor for seven years. He had led an active life and was a member of many organizations including; lifetime member of the Missouri Trap Shooters Association, Missouri Team Penning Association, Eagles Club, Country Club, Future Farmers of America and the 4-H. He had many hobbies that he greatly enjoyed in his spare time such as trap shooting, team penning, hunting, fishing, sorting, horseback riding, cooking and eating, lounging in the recliner, telling tall tales, spending time with his family and best friends, making wise cracks, helping those in need, watching the tube (especially football) and smoking and drinking his coffee. He was also known as a "wheeler dealer". Harvey loved to keep his "friends" (squirrels) fed. He had received many awards and had accomplished many things such as 4-H awards for cattle as a child, cancer survivor for five years, running the "chain gang" for the Lakers Football games for eighteen years, one hundred for one hundred at sixteen yards and one hundred for one hundred handicap same day at MTA trap shoot. Harvey was a loving dad, grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and loyal friend. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 13th, 2008, in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1-3, in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society and left at the funeral home.
