HERBERT FAY THOMAS Herbert Fay Thomas, son of Herbert Hadley and Arthelia Fern Britton Thomas, was born, January 26, 1941 in Fulton, Missouri. He departed this life, Saturday, May 19, 2012, in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of seventy-one years, three months and twenty-three days. On July 4, 1962 in New Bloomfield, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Lee Gathright and to this union three children were born. Together they shared forty-nine years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David C. Thomas. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Thomas of the home; three children, Kelly Mooney and husband John of Camdenton, Missouri, Clifton Thomas and wife Cassandra of Overland Park, Kansas and Connie Dampier and husband Jason of Camdenton, Missouri; eight grandchildren, John T. Mooney, James Mooney, Kalea Mooney, Alana Thomas, Isaac Thomas, Kylie Dampier, Ali Dampier and Mason Dampier; a sister-in-law, Lynn Thomas of Macon, Missouri and a host of other relatives and many friends. Herb was raised in New Bloomfield, Missouri and was a graduate of New Bloomfield High School. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri and a Master's Degree from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. As a young man he worked at the family owned feed, hardware and blacksmith business. He later worked at the State Mental Hospital, drove a school bus and worked at the Division of Family Services. He worked for thirty-one years for the Missouri State Highway Patrol and retired at the rank of Zone Sergeant. He received several commendations for achievement during his career as a law enforcement officer. Herb made a profession of faith and was a member of Community Christian Church, Camdenton. He was also a member of the Missouri State Troopers Association and a past member of the Kiwanis Club of Camdenton. He served on the Board of Directors for the Lake Area Helping Hands and volunteered at the LAMB House. In his spare time he enjoyed doing mechanical work and welding. He always enjoyed a good book. He helped others whenever a need arose. Most of all, time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, was precious to him. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. He dedicated much of his life to the service of others. His dedication and commitment to his fellow man will be remembered. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in Community Christian Church, Camdenton under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Committal service and burial will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday in New Bloomfield Cemetery, New Bloomfield, Missouri. Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Lake Area Helping Hands or New Bloomfield Cemetery Association and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
