Ira Ray “Skip” Thomas Jr was born on February 17, 1945 and passed away on February 28, 2020. At the time of his passing he was 75 years of age. Skip was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin but at an early age moved to Arkansas where he was raised. Shortly after graduating from high school Skip enlisted in the United States Army where he served two terms in Vietnam and later retired in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. While stationed in Ft. Leonard Wood he met Doris Stevenson. On September 13, 1980 they were united in marriage and resided in Camdenton, Missouri after their time of service. Together they loved to attend Native American Powwows, visit various antique shops and shows and relax listening to good ol’ country music. Skip was very devoted to helping others in need and served as substance abuse counselor. Family was very important to Skip and he was a very proud and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Skip was preceded in passing by his loving wife of 39 years, Doris Thomas; three siblings, Richard Thomas, Helen Thomas and Ruth Thomas; and his parents. He is survived by six children, Kara Webb (Chuck DiPasquale), Wesley (Stevie) Thomas, Jeannie (Rodney) Bowersox, Clinton (Lisa) Thomas, Alan (Carol) Thomas and Anthony (Julie) Ortiz; his grandchildren, Necole Olmstead (Gary Sherwin) Adam Khachi, Remington Webb, Heather Thomas, Dawson Cherry, Connier Thomas, Russell Sebren and a host of several other grandchildren; his great-grandchildren, Gary Sherwin, Hunter Sherwin, Lyla Sherwin, Sophia Castillo, Jacob Sebren and a host of several other great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Judy (Joe) Greer, Dorothy Childs, Michael ( Vicky) Thomas, Ray (Earlene) Bowen and Carole Beaver. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. A committal service will take place in Versailles Cemetery following the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Rodney Bowersox, Gary Sherwin, Hunter Sherwin, Adam Khachi, Chuck DiPasquale and Gary Sherwin. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the American Heart Association.
