James Barclay

JIM BARCLAY James David Barclay, son of Virgil Lee and Margaret Cecelia Slach Barclay, was born, January 18, 1946 in Muscatine, Iowa. He departed this life, Saturday, August 4, 2012, in St. Mary's Health Center, Jefferson City, Missouri at the age of sixty-six years, six months and seventeen days. On November 10, 1968 in Bennett, Iowa he was united in marriage to Sondra Leona Jones and to this union one son was born. Together they shared forty-three years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Thomas Barclay. Survivors include his wife, Sandy Barclay of Osage Beach, Missouri; a son, David Barclay of Fargo, North Dakota; his mother, Margaret Barclay of Muscatine, Iowa; a brother, Wayne Barclay and significant other, Mary Lou Tarrant of Atalissa, Iowa and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Jim was raised in Bennett, Iowa and was a graduate of Bennett High School in the class of 1964. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Iowa and married the love of his life. Together, they farmed for twenty years. He then began working for Proctor and Gamble and retired after twenty years. They retired to the Lake of the Ozarks in 2005. Jim made a profession of faith and was a member of Lake Presbyterian Church in Osage Beach. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6514 in Osage Beach. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He had a passion of raising horses. Most of all, time spent with family and friends was most important to him. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Local funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m., Monday, August 6, 2012 in Lake Presbyterian Church under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:30-5:00 p.m. Monday in the church. A second service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 9, 2012 in Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton, Iowa. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Lake Presbyterian Church and left at the funeral home or the church the day of the service. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
