James 'Jim' Capps

JAMES A. “JIM” CAPPS James A. “Jim” Capps, son of Boy and Juanita (Anthony) Capps was born March 4, 1942 and left us for Heaven on December 30, 2015, at the age of seventy-three years and nine months. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Colter Mack; daughter, Chandel and son-in-law, Rocky Kaus; granddaughters, Taylor Ray, Piper Capps, Dalley Capps, Lynlee Kaus, Izabella Kaus; one brother and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Billy Mack. He was united in marriage on February 23, 1968 to Nancy Jo Rivers in Miami, Oklahoma. Jim was born in Camden County in an area known as “Rag Holler.” He was very proud of his family heritage. He attended grade school in the old red brick building where his love for basketball was nurtured by Principal George Eldred. During his high school years he excelled in the sport under the coaching of L.T. McDaniels. After graduation, Jim enlisted in the US Navy, serving from 1961-1965. Shortly after his release, he began working in Kansas City, Missouri for a truck line C.F. In 1968, he married Nancy and they continued to live and work in Kansas City. Most week-ends were spent driving back “home” where they indulged in his favorite pastime of fishing and enjoying family. They returned “home” to stay in 1975 and began raising their family. Jim started his own carpet cleaning business and later asked longtime friend Leroy Rogers to partner with him as the business was flourishing. He continued to work until retiring in 2002. Jim spent most of his leisure time fishing, log jamming and hunting arrowheads. He also learned how to make homemade grape jelly under the watchful eye of his Uncle Lewis and proudly gave it to friends and family. He loved having family and friends over for fish frys and long visits on the porch. He spent many hours watching his granddaughters play from this “porch” chair. Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He “Never Shirked A Task.” Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 2, 2016 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri. Burial will follow in Dale Blair Memorial Cemetery, Camdenton. Visitation will be from 12-2:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the local VFW Post 5923 and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
