James Michael Wright, 42, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at his home in Edwards, Missouri following a series of health complications. Celebration of Life Services will be 10:00am Monday, March 20, 2023 at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, 15 Clint Ave, Camdenton, MO 65020.
James was born on December 25, 1980 in Kansas City, Ks., which would remain his hometown despite many years of travel and adventure. He married his best friend and love, Corey C Wright (Wallace) on February 14, 2013 in Kansas City, Mo. For the past four years, James and Corey were able to make James’s dream to live at Lake of the Ozarks a reality, surrounding himself with the environment he most loved.
James Wright was a gentle and thoughtful soul and will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched. He accepted a lifelong disability, embracing the opportunity to live a meaningful life through his relationships with family and friends. Invested in the stories and ongoings of the lives of others, he nurtured connections, shared news, and paid close attention to how others were feeling or experiencing the world. James was always the family member who maintained connection despite miles of distance.
With a passion for nature, James spent nearly every day outdoors. Summers were spent at the lake, swimming, boating, and visiting his favorite local spots. He enjoyed watching the abundance of wildlife in the wooded areas surrounding his home. His love for animals extended to the beloved pets in his home, most recently his dogs, Anna May & Chloe. When not outdoors, he would spend his time playing card games, visiting his favorite casino, and traveling. James also dedicated over ten collective years volunteering for PrideFest and advocating for suicide prevention.
James is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Frances and Donald Montgomery, Beverly and Truman Wright; his step-father, Thomas Clanton; and his nephew, Ethan Young.
He is survived by his husband Corey; parents, Nita and Romeo Hayner, and Mark and Sherrie Wright; his eight wonderful siblings; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, his friends and extended family.
The Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to help with the cost of funeral expenses. Contributions can be made directly to Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home over the phone or in person on the day of the service.
During the Celebration of Life, there will be reserved time for family and friends to have the opportunity to share a memory of James. The family has asked that if you choose to participate, please write down your brief memory and be prepared to share, if you choose to do so.
