JAN KIRSCHKE Janice Gertrude Kirschke, daughter of Edwin Powell Kennard and Mildred Blanche Iman Kennard, was born, December 13, 1935 in Pierre, South Dakota. She departed this life, Saturday, March 10, 2012, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri at the age of seventy-six years, two months and twenty-six days. On February 24, 1960 in Denver, Colorado, she was united in marriage to Alan Ernest Kirschke and to this union six children were born. Together they shared nearly forty-three years of marriage until his passing on February 10, 2003. She was also preceded in death by an infant son; her father, Edwin Kennard; her mother, Mildred Stafford; step father, Ebb Stafford and foster parents, Dr. and Mrs. Blount. Survivors include two daughters, Arlyne Page and husband John of Camdenton, Missouri and Daelyne Ford and husband Jim of Anchorage, Alaska; three sons, Patrick Kirschke of Camdenton, Missouri, Mike Kirschke of Kansas City, Missouri and Alan Kirschke, Jr. and wife Cindy of Camdenton, Missouri; six grandchildren, Christopher Carpenter, Matthew Hasselbring, Jeramie Ford, Jacob Kirschke, Jodi Page and John Page; eight great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Pat Morrison and husband Buster and Linda Daniels and husband Tom all of Versailles, Missouri, Carol Stringer of Kansas City, Missouri, Bob Kennard and wife Carol and Bill Kennard and wife Zelma all of the state of Arizona and Jim Kennard and wife Donna of Springfield, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Jan attended Versailles Elementary School and later moved to Larned, Kansas where she graduated from high school in the class of 1953. She attended University of Denver and St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing where she obtained a nursing degree. She worked as a nurse in the emergency department of Lutheran Hospital in Denver for many years. She and her husband moved to the Lake of the Ozarks and owned and operated 5-81 Motel and Trailer Park. She managed the JC Penney Catalog store in Lebanon, was manager of Camdenton Humane Society and had worked at Janine's Flowers. She retired from Gerbes as a cashier in 2000. Janice had a passion for animals, especially wildlife. She enjoyed rehabilitating and feeding wild deer and was one of the first wildlife rehabilitation specialists in Camden County. She was a farm-girl at heart and had a knack for growing roses. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. A visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2012 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton. During the visitation, the family will share special memories. No formal funeral service will be held. Memorial donations may be made to Dogwood Animal Shelter and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
