JEAN COFFMAN Norma Jean Coffman, daughter of James Elbert Harmon and Opal Woodcock Harmon Schatz, was born, December 14, 1925 in Meramec, Missouri. She departed this life, Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of eighty-seven years, five months and four days. On March 25, 1950, she was united in marriage to Ernest Edward "Ernie" Coffman, whom she met while roller skating. To this union one son was born. Together they shared fifty-three years of marriage before his passing on June 12, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her son; Ernie Coffman and fiance Denine Wilson of Linn Creek, Missouri; a half-brother, W.B. Harmon and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Jean was raised in Sullivan, Missouri and as a teenager she moved to St. Louis to wait tables. She later returned to Sullivan, Missouri and was married. She rode with her husband on many trips while he was worked as a truck driver. She eventually became the third woman in the United States to receive licensing to operate a tractor-trailer. She drove with Ernie for over seventeen years. In 1960 they moved to the Lake of the Ozarks and owned and operated Jean and Ernie's Lake Hotel in Osage Beach for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and volunteering at the LAMB House. As a resident of the nursing home, she enjoyed BINGO and the other activities offered there. She was a loving mother and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 23, 2013 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett, Missouri. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to LAMB House and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
