Jerry Morgan Eidson was born to his father Robert V. Eidson and his mother Alma Morgan Eidson on July 4, 1921 the oldest of seven children. He departed this life June 27, 2020. Jerry was raised in Springfield, Missouri where he graduated from Old Senior High School. After graduation, he moved to Camdenton for employment. He subsequently attended aircraft mechanics school and worked for several flying services. On June 8, 1947 he entered in marriage to Dorothy Mae Pemberton. To this union two daughters were born, Martha Jane Eidson of Camdenton, Missouri and Jean Ann Genge of Raymore, Missouri. Jerry and his wife Dorothy were married for seventy-one years. Jerry is survived by his two daughters, Jane Eidson of Camdenton, Missouri and Jean Ann Genge and husband Milton of Raymore, Missouri. He is also survived by two grandsons; Mike Genge (Kelly), and Rob Genge (Lola), a granddaughter Beth Giesler (Brian), and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister Dorothy Prugger of Springfield, Missouri. His wife Dorothy preceded him in death. Jerry’s entire career was working for the Postal Service finishing as the Postmaster of Camdenton. Jerry was involved in many civic projects including Camdenton R-3 School Board, First National Bank Board, Council of Ministries, Camdenton United Methodist Church, and Masonic Lodge. He was in a group of six that started the Lake Valley Golf Course, was chairman of the board of both Blair Cemetery and Union Electric Cemetery in Roach at Roach, Missouri, Library Board, member of the Volunteer Fire Department, worked with March of Dimes and many other philanthropic efforts. He was a ham radio operator holding the coveted Extra Class License. Jerry served in the Navy as an aviation machinist in WWII. He served on the aircraft carrier Fanshaw Bay where he was known as Ozark Eidson. He fought in the Marshall Islands, the Seipan, Moratai, Leyte including the historic battle of Leyte Gulf campaigns. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Dale Blair Memorial Cemetery, Camdenton, Missouri. Friends may call at their convenience. Burial will follow in Dale Blair Memorial Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Camdenton United Methodist Church or L.A.M.B. House and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri.
