JO ANNE SPURGEON Jo Anne Spurgeon, daughter of Joseph Aaron and Shirley Betina Schultz Shearrer, was born, May 26, 1958 in Michigan. She departed this life, Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in Costa Rica at the age of fifty-four years and nine months. On December 2, 2002 in Las Vegas, Nevada, she was united in marriage to Ronald M. Spurgeon after having been together since the late 1980's. Survivors include her husband, Ron Spurgeon of Osage Beach, Missouri; her son, Travis Dale and significant other, Krista Keence of Osage Beach, Missouri; her father, Joseph Shearrer and wife Yvonne of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; a brother, Tom Shearrer of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; a sister, Carla DeMarco and husband George of El Dorado Springs, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her mother. Jo Anne was raised in the Detroit, Michigan area. As a young lady, the family moved to a farm in El Dorado Springs, Missouri. In 1987, she moved to the Lake of the Ozarks. She worked for many years at Tan-Tar-A, where she met many of her lifelong friends. She and Ron along with other close family and associates started Sunrise Cantina and Mexicali Blues. Jo Anne made a profession of faith and was a member of Lake Presbyterian Church in Osage Beach. She loved animals, especially dogs and volunteered many hours at the Dogwood Animal Shelter. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts. She loved the outdoors, and spending time in her garden tending to her plants and flowers. Most of all, time spent with her family and friends was important to her. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. Her life was too brief, however, we can cling to the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. She was truly one of a kind and will be missed by many. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2013 in Lake Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Freedom Cemetery, Montreal. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., Friday in the church. Memorial donations may be made to Dogwood Animal Shelter and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
