JOE MUSKRAT Joe Harvey Muskrat, son of Jake Claude and Elva May Mouck Muskrat, was born, August 25, 1930 in Grove, Oklahoma. He departed this life, Monday, July 20, 2009 in Windsor Estates, Camdenton, Missouri at the age of seventy-eight years, ten months and twenty-five days. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Muskrat and his parents. Survivors include six children, Merry Jo Muskrat of Camdenton, Missouri, Joe Michael Muskrat of Gravois Mills, Missouri, Carol Jean Ponder, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Malinda Ruth Muskrat of Lebanon, Missouri, Richard Mason Muskrat of Camdenton, Missouri and Marcia Louise Muskrat of Columbia, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jim Muskrat of Joplin, Missouri, Tom Muskrat of Neosho, Missouri, Jake Muskrat of Gallup, New Mexico and Sam Muskrat of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two sisters, Mary Anne Smith of Norman, Oklahoma and Ida Dunham of Aurora, Illinois and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Joe was raised in Grove, Oklahoma and Pineville, Missouri. After graduation from high school he served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He later graduated from Tulsa University in Tulsa, Oklahoma with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. He worked as an Internal Auditor for Gulf Oil Company and in later years he worked for his brother, Sam Muskrat in his accounting firm in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He moved to the Lake of the Ozarks in 2000. He made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Unity of the Lake Church in Sunrise Beach, Missouri. Joe's greatest accomplishment was raising six outstanding children. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He spent many hours holding his great-grandchildren and watching them play. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling and reading. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 1, 2009 in Cross Creek Church, located on 2nd Street in Lebanon, Missouri. Memorial donations may be made to Lake Area Industries, 1720 N. State Highway 5, Camdenton, MO 65020. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
