JOHN E. CARTER John Edward Carter, son of George Lemuel and Mary Helen Villmer Carter, was born, August 21, 1944 in Potosi, Missouri. He departed this life, Sunday, July 27, 2014, in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of sixty-nine years, eleven months and six days. On November 24, 1962 in Old Mines, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Beverly Anne Nixon and to this union three children were born. Together they shared fifty-one years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ray George Carter. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Carter of the home; three children, Michael Edward Carter and wife Thea of Overland Park, Kansas, Krista Deanne Carter of Richland, Missouri and Brian Keith Carter and wife Kari of Anchorage, Alaska; five grandchildren, John Edward Carter, Amanda Ann Carter, Brandon Michael Carter, Mason Keith Carter and Cannon Wayne Carter and a host of other relatives and many friends. John was raised in Potosi, Missouri and graduated there in the class of 1962. He and his brother owned and operated an Oil Distribution Company in Potosi and he farmed on the side. He worked in the Tiff Mines in Washington County until 1973 when he moved to Wyoming and later Utah. He worked in the oil fields hauling oil until 1976 when he moved to Camdenton. In 1978 he began Carter's Ozark Sand and Gravel. In 1990 he moved to Alaska where he worked as an Ice Road Trucker. He retired back to Camdenton in 2004. September 7, 1976 was a milestone date for John. This was his sobriety birthday. He was a member of the Dry Dock Club. John made a profession of faith and was a member of Camdenton United Methodist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing. He loved horses and was a barrel racer in his younger years. He enjoyed racing dirt track stock cars and RC cars. Most of all, he loved time spent with his family. He was a loving husband father and grandfather and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 1, 2014 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
