JOHN EUGENE RUSSELL John Eugene Russell age 85 passed away February 17, 2015 after a long illness of Alzheimer’s disease at the Four Seasons Living Center in Sedalia Missouri. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Pauline Russell, his parents Joseph and Deene Russell. He is survived by his two sons Michael John Russell of Lafayette Louisiana and Mark Edward Russell of Roach; one sister Eileen Butts; three granddaughters Jolie and Savannah Russell of Springfield Missouri and Rhianna Russell of Lafayette, Louisiana; one nephew Joe Butts of Camdenton and one niece Billie Ruth Edwards of Roach. John was born September 8, 1929 in Branch Missouri. He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. John was a member of the First Baptist Church of Camdenton. John went through barber school after the war and barbered in Camdenton for over 50 years. John enjoyed his patrons company and lively conversations during his tenure as a barber in this community. A loving husband and father, John was active in both of his son’s life and shared a wonderful marriage to Pauline. John coached Little League Baseball for 7 years including coaching both of his sons and many others through Little League Baseball. The family shared many wonderful times boating, hunting, canoeing and other activities presented by the wonderful Ozarks’ outdoors. John was a very good athlete and enjoyed playing town team baseball, bowling and golf. John was well known in the community for his involvement in various civic organizations and activities. He was a founding member of the Optimists Club of Camdenton and president of the Lake of the Ozarks CB club. John was recognized and considered a friend by many that he met during his years in Camden County. Visitation will be at Allee Holman-Howe Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 from 5-7p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Missouri Chapter and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
