John "Jack" Petersen, Iii

John Theodore “Jack” Petersen III, departed this life on August 6, 2020, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of seventy-nine years. On October 12, 1963, he was united in marriage to Karen Delaney in St. Louis, Missouri and to this union they were blessed with two children. Together they shared almost fifty-seven years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents John Theodore, Jr. and Charlotte Mitchell Petersen and his granddaughter, Megan Killebrew. Survivors include his wife, Karen Petersen of Roach, Missouri; his son, John Petersen, IV; his daughter, Shari Petersen Brockett; great-grandson, Evan Killebrew; his brother, Jim Petersen and wife Wanda and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. John was raised in Normandy, Missouri where he attended school and graduated from Normandy High School in the class of 1961. After graduation he attended Cape Girardeau College for a year before joining the United States Army where he proudly served his country. Upon his return, he attended Florissant Valley Community College where he studied business. He worked in sales for the Singer Sewing Machine Company and then for Metal Goods Division of Alcan Aluminum from 1966-1994. Jack and his good friend, Noel, a sales manager at Metal Goods attended many golf outings, customer dinners and enjoyed making sales calls which included the Lake of the Ozarks area where Jack eventually built a lake home. While traveling for Metal Goods, he also attended many gun shows and eventually became a licensed gun collector. He and long time friend, Mick met while coaching their sons ball teams in St. Charles. They both enjoyed being on the water and continued to spend many family weekends boating on Lake of the Ozarks where Jack retired in 1994. He was a “Jack of all trades”. He and a good friend, Larry, spent a year or more welding together a 2-well dock for his lake home. He built rock walls, did a little excavating with his bobcat, created concrete stained glass stepping stones, dabbled a bit in photography taking pics of the interesting wild life around the lake. He also enjoyed woodworking, building custom tables for Karen’s sewing machines and many other projects. He could also be found doing a bit of machine embroidery himself and even made a quilt of animal head blocks. Jack had a sharp mind and will always be remembered by his family and friends for his dry sense of humor. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. ** Please click on Tribute Wall above for photos of Jack's home and projects. ** There are no services planned and this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri.
