~ JOHN SHIVERS John Shivers, son of Wes and Zedna Waters Shivers, was born, November 21, 1923 in Linn Creek, Missouri. He departed this life, Sunday, April 20, 2008 in Osage Beach Health Care Center, Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, four months and thirty days. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ezra Shivers and a sister, Alice Hollingsworth. Survivors include his brother, Jim Shivers of the home; a sister-in-law, Hazel Shivers of Sedalia, Missouri and a host of many friends. John was raised in the Linn Creek area and attended school at Freedom. Except for time spent serving his country in the U.S. Army, he spent his entire life on the farm where he was born and raised. He was a farmer for most of his life and raised registered Black Angus cattle. John served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II. He served in Germany and on the Pacific as a Combat Engineer. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1946. Growing up, he attended church at Freedom Church of Christ. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Waynesville, Missouri and the Black Angus Association. John was a great brother, brother-in-law and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his military career and will treasure the memories he made. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2008 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow in Freedom Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday in the funeral home. ~
