John 'Vince' Barrett

JOHN "VINCE" BARRETT John Vincent Barrett, son of William and Pearl Goodman Barrett, was born, August 2, 1939 in Independence, Missouri. He departed this life, Friday, July 31, 2009 in St. Luke's East Hospital, Lee's Summit, Missouri at the age of sixty-nine years, eleven months and twenty-nine days. On November 12, 1971 in Jackson County, Missouri, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Beverly Jean Wilson and together they shared thirty-four years until her passing on February 14, 2006. He went to join Beverly a day before her birthday, they are now celebrating together. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Sherree Baker-Weaver. Survivors include his daughters, Pam Duke and husband Derrick of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Becky Dedier and husband Steve of Atlanta, Georgia; sons, Richard Baker and wife Cindy of Wheatland, Missouri and John Barrett and wife Pam of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Barrett and wife Sharon of Wheatland, Missouri; a sister, Kathryn Lynch of Clinton, Missouri; brothers-in-law, James Wilson and wife Karen of Climax Springs, Missouri and Robert Wilson of Warsaw, Missouri; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Vince was raised in Harrisonville, Missouri and graduated from high school there. He worked in the insulation business most of his life. His job took him to various areas in Kansas City and later to many different states. He worked for Owen Corning Fiberglass for twenty plus years focusing mainly on power plants. He and Beverly retired to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1994. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Kansas City. He was an avid golfer and spent many hours on the course. He loved animals of all kinds. He and Beverly loved being on the lake, especially boating. He was a talented woodworker and made many wood crafts. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. John was a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 3, 2009 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Dale Blair Memorial Cemetery, Camdenton. Visitation will be from 12- 2:00 p.m., Monday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Dogwood Animal Shelter and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
