John William Gohagan

John William "Hollywood" Gohagan, aged 63, passed away on May 5, 2024, in Osage Beach, MO. John was born on May 31, 1960, to James Raley and Lena Irene (Coleman) Gohagan in Verdon, France. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Jeffery Lynn Gohagan, one sister, Jeanette Sue McDowell, and his mother-in-law, Erlinda Montez.

John attended many elementary schools, including in Bangkok, Thailand, before moving to Camdenton where he would graduate from Camdenton High in 1979. John was a Christian and was baptized at an early age at Myetta Church. Following high school, he moved to the state of California where he started his career operating heavy machinery and driving dump trucks. It was there that he met his wife, Jessica. They were united in marriage in 1995 at the Ponderosa in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, before moving home to Camdenton, Missouri.

Once home, John continued the work he loved of driving dump trucks and operating machinery as a supervisor for JWE Inc. He quickly developed close friendships and camaraderie with his fellow drivers. He lovingly earned the nickname “Hollywood” for his handsome good looks, confident stride, and perpetual sunglasses around his neck. He further lived up to the name by showing up to job sites neat and tidy, always wearing cologne, and without a hair ever out of place.

John was a devout Dallas Cowboys fan. Every year he promised that “this was their year” and he would defend them to the end, even when the year was definitely not ending with a championship. His love of the Cowboys led to many hilarious conversations and harmless bets between friends.

Although he stood at 6’4, John was a softie who loved animals, friends, and family. Most of all, John loved to be home surrounded by family and grandkids. More recently, you could find him in his recliner with his Cowboys blanket, watching his favorite shows with a Pepsi in hand.

John is survived by his wife Jessica, of the home, sons Michael Gohagan of California, J.J. Gohagan of San Antonio, Texas, Kurt Gohagan of Kenedy, Texas, and Kyle Gohagan of Folsom, California, Justin Salinas of Camdenton, MO, and Jason Norwood of Campbell, California, and Josh Norwood of Sunrise Beach, MO. Brother Jim Gohagan of West Virginia, sisters Debbie McGuire of Lebanon, MO, and Tammy (John) Williams of Camdenton, MO, sisters-in-law Corrina Loveland and Lena Chavez, both of California, many grandkids, nieces, and nephews, and friends.

John will truly be missed by the family and friends who loved him.
