JON F. COLLIER Jon Franklin Collier, son of Willis and Emma Lawrence Collier, was born, August 5, 1933 in Hutchinson, Kansas. He departed this life, Saturday, June 21, 2014, in Dove Senior Citizen Home, Lebanon, Missouri at the age of eighty years, ten months and sixteen days. On August 3, 1956 in Camden County, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Laura M. Wilkey and to this union one daughter was born. Together they shared fifty years of marriage until her passing on July 1, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Willis Collier and a sister, Daisy Hodges. Survivors include his daughter, Kathy Bates and husband Michael of Lebanon, Missouri; two grandchildren, Tracey Morrow and husband Jared of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Shaun Bates of Lebanon, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, Madisen, McKinley and Kadence Morrow and Alexis Wilgren; two sisters, Beverly Thompson and husband Clarence of Galena, Missouri and Juanita Harrington of Castle Rock, Colorado; a brother-in-law, William Wilkey and wife Joanne of Grand Pass, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Shirley Murphy of Clarksburg, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Jon was raised in Kansas. He served his county proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged, he met and married his wife. They lived in Missouri and then Kansas and settled in Camdenton in 1968. Jon was the owner and mechanic at Collier's Garage for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening. He loved animals of all kinds. He was a family man and his wife and family were always a priority in his life. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, June 26, 2014 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. No formal funeral service will be held. The family prefers plants in lieu of fresh flowers and memorial donations may be made to your local charity which benefits animals, cancer or the homeless as he loved to help animals and people. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
