Jon David Witherow

“Jon” Jonathan David Witherow, was born July 18, 1944, son of O.H. and Louisa Wihterow of Linn Creek, Missouri. He left his earthly bounds on December 9, 2023, at the age of 79, with Connie by his side.

He was a simple man, a “character” many said, as he loved to joke and make people laugh. He never met a stranger and was a favorite with kids and young people, always doing what he could for them.

After graduating from Camdenton High School, he became a truck driver. He loved Peterbilt semi-trucks and became an owner-operator. During the Vietnam war, he hauled bombs for Tri-state and military equipment. His favorite time spent on the highway was driving for General Electric with his friend Joe.

After leaving the highway behind, he became a heavy equipment operator and mechanic. There wasn’t a piece of equipment he couldn’t operate or fix. He worked for Ben Turner Contracting and was lead mechanic for Landscapes Unlimited, during the building of Old Kinderhook golf course.

Jon loved all animals and his favorite place to be was on the farm caring for them. He loved horses and spent years riding and showing Arabians with Connie. He raised Doberman dogs at one time for service work and he leaves behind many four-legged family, especially his “Big Dog” Diesel, a German Shepherd.

As a NASCAR fan, he also liked to watch dirt track racing and could be found at many local tracks, a regular at Urbana Speedway.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Stephanie of Kansas City; and most recently, his beloved teenage daughter, Jonna Kay Witherow of the home in Macks Creek.

He is survived by Connie Long, his best friend and love of his life for forty years; son, Todd Potter of Ozark; and many friends.

In respect to his wishes, no services are planned.
