JOYCE BURNS Julia Joyce Burns, daughter of John Thomas and Grace Grimes Young, was born, April 12, 1918 in Eldridge, Missouri. She departed this life, Wednesday, May 4, 2016, in her home, Decaturville, Missouri at the age of ninety-eight years and twenty-two days. On October 12, 1935 in Eldridge, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Joe Burns and to this union twelve children were born. Together they shared fifty-six years of marriage before his passing on September 3, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Ervin D. Burns and George T. “Bubby” Burns; a grandson, Danny Ray Jennings; a great-granddaughter, Robin Leigh Russel; two great-great-granddaughters, Jayden Leigh Ling and Skylar Jones; two sisters, Vurlis Jones and Hazel Waterman and a brother, Delmar Young. Survivors include JoAnn Jennings and husband John, Peggy Arnold and husband David, Thelma Anderson and husband James, and Carol Sauerbrei and husband Mark all of Lebanon, Missouri; Linda Swift, Beverly Bullock and husband Sid and Leon Burns and wife Sylvia all of Camdenton, Missouri, Betty Hamme and husband Bob of Osage Beach, Missouri, Vicki Hogeland and husband Ronald of Saddlebrook, Missouri and Shirley Crain and husband Joe of Macks Creek, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Ruby Burns of Camdenton, Missouri; twenty-nine grandchildren; fifty-six great-grandchildren; fifty-seven great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great granddaughter; two sisters, Mary Riggs of Lebanon, Missouri and Lois Mott of Quincy, Illinois; a special friend, Charles Moyer and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Joyce was raised in Eldridge, Missouri and after her marriage made their home in Camden County. They lived in Illinois for a time before returning to Camdenton. She worked as a waitress at the Night Hawk and other restaurants in the lake area. Joyce was saved and baptized at Mountain Creek Church and attended Decaturville Missionary Baptist Church in later years. Joyce was a mother at heart with her family being the most important part of her life. She never missed a birthday or a family event. She was the rock and foundation of her loving large family. She touched many lives in her nearly one hundred years on earth. We know that her memory will linger on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 9, 2016 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Horeb Cemetery, Decaturville. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Sunday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Horeb Cemetery and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
