Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Anita “Joyce” Robins passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023 at the age of eighty-two years, five months and one day.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Joy Cheetham.
She is survived by her husband Jerome, and by children, Mary (John) Renner, Daniel (Judy) Robins, Anne (David) Meier, by a brother Ronald Cheetham and by grandchildren, Miranda, Johnny, Alex, Zach, and Natalie.
Born March 26, 1941, Joyce grew up in Duluth, Minnesota where she spent many happy days playing with neighborhood friends, camping with family, fishing, swimming and exploring the north woods.
In 1963 she graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in physical therapy. She worked as a PT for forty years; a career she truly loved.
While in college, Joyce met Jerry Robins at a Newman Club picnic and they fell head over heels in love. They were married on December 29, 1962 and were blessed with three children. They enjoyed a long and happy marriage, celebrating sixty years together.
Joyce enjoyed being a “Mom”; planting the family garden each spring, walking to the swimming pool for an afternoon of fun in the water, summer trips to the library for an armful of books, baking cookies, and all those special holiday traditions. She loved to “listen in” as Jerry told the kids his yarns or read bedtime stories. Grandchildren were a delight; time to play, tea parties, events to attend, Christmas cookies to decorate, and lots of hugs and kisses.
Jerry and Joyce enjoyed to travel, especially their “fly and camp” trips to the National Parks. Retirement brought new adventures with the purchase of a small travel van and a summer long trip to Alaska. They explored many beautiful places all over the USA and Canada. Retirement also meant more time to spend at St. Anthony Catholic Church where Joyce felt blessed by a loving church family and her many wonderful friends. She participated in several ministries and activities, and especially loved serving as leader of the “Catholics Returning Home” program. Jerry called her his favorite “church lady”
Joyce’s frequent prayer and greatest wish was that all those she loved would one day return to the Church to share in the joy of receiving the Eucharist.
Thank you all for all your prayers and kindness, and for your participation in the Mass of Resurrection.
