Joyce Shaffer

Joyce Loretta Shaffer, daughter of Leslie Wayne and Hazel Ireta Carter Postlewait, was born April 1, 1939 in Upton, Missouri. She departed this life Friday, April 13, 2012 in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of seventy-three years and twelve days. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack, on March 31, 2008; a son, Jamie Shaffer; great-grandson, Zachary Harrington; and a sister, Lois Mings. She is survived by her two sons, Jeff Shaffer and wife Debbie of Camdenton, Missouri, and Jason Shaffer and wife Shannon of Ozark, Missouri; grandchildren, Jarrett Shaffer, Joshua Shaffer, Cassandra Shaffer, Chelsea Shaffer, Jessica Klemme, and Heather Zumwalt; great-grandchildren, Zoe, Roy, Kierra, and Devon; siblings, Shirley Weber, Virgil Postlewait and wife Sharon, Jerry Postlewait and wife Jan, Larry Postlewait, Bobby Postlewait, Donna Petty and husband Mark, Eddie Postlewait and wife Carol, and Leslie Postlewait and wife Cynthia; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and many dear friends. Joyce was a graduate of Houston High School, and Burge Nursing School in Springfield. Following her marriage to Jack, Joyce and her family lived in various locations before settling in Camdenton in 1975. Joyce and her husband owned and operated Mozark Assisted Living in Camdenton for over twenty years. She had accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior early in life. Joyce's grandchildren were the light of her life and she enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. She also enjoyed reading, collecting knick-knacks, and antique shopping. Joyce was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the many wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012 in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri. Burial will follow in Laughlin Cemetery, West of Camdenton. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m., Monday, in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to assist the family and can be left at the funeral home on the night of the visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
