June Kay Manie, daughter of Louis and Vivian B. Hays, was born on June 3, 1946 in St. Louis Mo. She departed life, Saturday, November 15, 2014 in her home at Lake of the Ozarks at the age of sixty-eight years, five months, and twelve days.. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Louis Hays And her sister Shirley Ann Beatt. Loving Wife to Frank Manie; loving Mother to Brett Manie, and Loving Grandmother to Christopher and Noah Manie. Her extended family also included eleven nieces and nephews, and fourteen great nieces and nephews, with another on the way. June was raised in Dellwood Mo. and attended River View High School. After graduating in 1964 she began working for the Federal Government in a number of different capacities. Frank and June were married the summer of 1964. They lived in several areas around St. Louis County for a few years before moving to St. Charles County where they spent most of their married life. Brett was born in 1970, and pretty much, had mom's full attention through his adolescent and teenage years. Frank and June began visiting the lake in 1966 (weekenders). In the early 70's, Brett was skiing before he got out of diapers (with Dad of course). That cinched it! They would become “Lake People” forever. They bought their first house in 1973 and stayed there until building their retirement home in 2000. Frank and June both retired in 2003, and literally moved to the lake the next day. Since then, they have spent their time traveling and visiting with family and friends. However, their favorite pastime was watching their grandsons, Christopher and Noah, learn how to ski and enjoy all of the water sports available. A good home-cooked meal by “Nana” at the end of the day rated pretty high as well. Frank and June celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last July. June will be missed by her family and friends, but there are many fond memories to help us through these times.
