Karen Marie Boyd

Karen Marie Boyd, daughter of the late Neal & Irene (McClellan) Cunningham, was born on July 25, 1952 and departed this life on October 16, 2023. At the time of her passing, Karen was seventy-one years, two months and twenty-one days of age.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Tillman Boyd; her parents; one brother, Mark Cunningham; and one brother-in-law, Danny Mathews.

She is survived by her sisters, Darla Mathews & Kirk Wiles and Carla & husband Bob Wood; sister-in-law, Jenny Cunningham & Rick Sanders; four nephews, Robert & wife Kayla Wood, Cody & wife Becky Wiles, Josh & wife Amber Mathews, Neal Cunningham & Dustin Kelso; three nieces, Kara & husband Jeff Long, Cassie Cunningham, and Megan & husband Randy DaMitz; and twelve great-nieces & nephews. Karen also leaves behind many friends and other family members who will truly miss her.

Karen was raised in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from Hazelwood High School. Following her high school graduation, she attended cosmetology school and later owned and operated her own beauty salon in Laurie, Missouri for several years. On March 20, 1976, in St. Louis, Missouri, she was united in marriage to James Tillman Boyd and shared thirty-two years of marriage. Together, they moved to Texas and spent many years as house parents at the Pleasant Hills Childrens Home in Fairfield, Texas. Later, moving home to Camdenton, where she worked at Wal-Mart until her retirement in 2014.

Karen made a profession of faith at a young age and was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

She loved gospel music and sang in church all of her life, spending time playing the organ and leading worship songs as well. She also loved to bake. Making lasagna, cherry pies, and banana nut bread were her specialties.

She was a loving sister, aunt & great-aunt, as well as a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 23, 2023 at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Dale Blair Memorial Cemetery, Camdenton Missouri.
