Kent Allan Powell

Kent Allan Powell, son of the late Laurence & Mary (Miller) Powell, was born on April 5, 1942 and departed this life on July 25, 2020. At the time of his passing he was 78 years, 3 months and 20 days of age. Kent was born and raised in Steamboat Springs, Colorado where he later graduated from High School. Shortly after graduation he joined the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. After returning home from the war he began working as an airline mechanic and on November 6, 1981 in Bethany Church, Englewood, Colorado, he was united in marriage to Sherran Welden. Together they shared thirty-one years of marriage. After he retired as an airline mechanic, he decided to pursue a passion in farming. In his spare time, he loved to go fishing, hunting, woodworking and most of all he loved spending time with his family and grandkids. Kent was an educator. He loved to teach trades and share his knowledge to anyone willing to listen. He also had such a positive perspective on life always trying to find the silver lining in any situation. Kent was preceded in passing by his loving wife, Sherran Powell; and his parents, Laurence & Mary Powell. He is survived by his daughter, Honey Kay Powell, and three grandchildren, Brandon & wife Kirsten Brumley, Kent & wife Zoie Brumley, Jesse Brumley; great-grandchildren, Mason Brumley, Keehan Brumley and Addley Brumley; and two siblings, Rollen & wife Jennie Powell and Kathleen Newton. He also leaves behind several friends and other family members who will all truly miss him.
