Lena Fern Latham, daughter of the late Cecil Ray & Alma Gertrude (Johnson) Tolbert, was born on April 18, 1931 and departed this life on February 28, 2025. At the time of her passing, Lena was ninety-three years, ten months and ten days of age.
She was preceded in passing by her husband, Vern "Pappy" Latham Sr.; three children, Vern Latham, Judith Latham and David Latham; sister, Lolita Hickerson; and brother, Harold Tolbert.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandy & husband Ron Gentry; brother, R.C. & wife, Hazel Tolbert; seven grandchildren, Bobby (Becky) Latham, Rob (Tina) Mitchell, Jennifer (Jim) Wilson, Stacy (Daniel) Bruns, Jeremy (Molly) Latham, Alicia (Maverick) Courchene and Josh (Daleann) Ballentine; nineteen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. In her passing, Lena also leaves behind many friends and other family members who will truly miss her.
Lena was raised in the Bootheel area of Missouri. On October 2, 1948, in Piggott, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Vern Latham; sharing fifty-seven years of marriage, until his passing in 2005. Together they spent time living in Ferguson, Missouri and would later retire to the Camdenton area. Lena was blessed to have the opportunity to be a homemaker for most of her life but also worked for Sandy's Frozen Custard, where she was known as "Grandma'
Lena made a profession of Nazarene faith in her younger years.
In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, boating, shopping, playing bingo and bowling. Above all, she truly cherished every moment spent with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren
She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 3, 2025 in Allee Memorial Gardens.
A memorial has been established and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
