LENFORD "DUB" ASH Lenford Lane "Dub" Ash, 81, of Camdenton, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2007 at Lake Regional Hospital. He was born in Montreal, Missouri on Saturday, September 19, 1925 the son of Monroe and Francis "Sally" Lane Ash. Dub was united in marriage to Purley Piles on September 23, 1945 in Montreal, Missouri. They were married almost 62 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Francis "Sally" Ash and one brother, Herb Ash. Survivors include his wife Purley of the home, two daughters, Reta Collins and her husband Greg of Columbia and Debbie Wilson and her husband Bill of Jefferson City; three grandchildren, Matthew and Brian Collins of Columbia and Gabrielle Wilson of Jefferson City; one sister, Alice Stevens and her husband Lloyd of St. Louis; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Burley and Calvin Shivers of Montreal; a niece and nephews. Dub was raised in the Montreal area and shortly after marriage; he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He returned from the Army and worked several years in North Central Missouri on a highway construction crew before returning to Camdenton to work as a field mechanic for the State Highway Department. He retired after 33 years of service. He was a member of Buffalo Prairie Baptist Church in Montreal. He loved the church and was honored to be able to help build the new church. He loved the outdoors, and spent as much time outside as he could. Dub was a loving husband, father and grandpa. He was a kind and gentle man who loved people and didn't know a stranger. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 15, 2007 in Buffalo Prairie Baptist Church in Montreal under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Montreal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Buffalo Prairie Baptist Church and left at the funeral home or the church. Arrangements are under the care of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
