Lloyd Sorrell

Lloyd Ray Sorrell, son of James Glendon and Mary Ellen Johnson Sorrell, was born February 8, 1950 in Kansas City, Kansas. He departed this life Monday, March 13, 2017 in Camdenton, Missouri, at the age of sixty-seven years, one month, and five days. On May 3, 1991, Lloyd was united in marriage to Joy Ann (Berry) Neustadt, and together they have shared twenty-five years. His parents; and a son, Donald Berry, preceded Lloyd in death. He is survived by his wife, Joy, of the home; three sons, Martin Sorrell, of San Diego, California, Garrett Berry and wife Monica, of Roy, Utah, and Curtis Berry and wife Corina, of Sierra Vista, Arizona; five grandchildren, Marisa, Josiah, Abigail, Alex, and Sarah; two brothers, Ralph Sorrell and wife Cathy, of Macks Creek, Missouri, and Paul Sorrell and wife Patricia, of Camdenton, Missouri; a number of nieces, nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. Lloyd moved to Climax Springs in 1958 and was a graduate of Camdenton High School in the Class of 1969. He entered into the United States Navy where he served on an Air Craft Destroyer as a Parachute Rigger during Viet Nam. He was honorably discharged in 1973. He worked for the San Diego Fire Department before moving back to Missouri, where he held various jobs throughout the years. In 1989, Lloyd started his career at the Department of Natural Resources in the Parks Department and retired after many years of service. He later spent time working in heating and cooling and also worked at the Executive Center until his passing. Lloyd was an avid bow hunter and was active in the Lebanon Area Bow Hunters and participated in the Central Missouri Archery League. Lloyd had accepted Christ as his Savior and was a member at The Potters House. He was actively involved in Men’s Prayer Group, Missions and Memories, and helped lead Archery Clinics at the Sonshine Camp. In his spare time, Lloyd enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle. He also spent time working on small engines and designing and constructing various mechanical projects. Time spent with family and friends was something that he truly cherished. Lloyd was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories he has created for his family and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017 in The Potters House of Camdenton. Visitation will be from 12 noon until time of service in the church. Burial will follow in Laughlin Cemetery, Camdenton, Missouri. Memorial donations may be made to Missions and Memories or Medical Missions for Christ. Arrangements are under the direction of the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton.
