Lorraine Priscilla Parrish was born January 5, 1923, near Purvis in Camden County, Missouri to Clyde and Bessie Eddings (Depew) Cooper. She departed this life Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Windsor Estates in Camdenton at the age of ninety-nine years, six months, and sixteen days. She was the oldest of five children and attended schools in Barnett, Versailles, and Camdenton. She could tell many stories from her lifetime around the Lake of the Ozarks. As a child she attended the picnic to unveil the plan for the creation of Camdenton in 1931, she would recall the bountiful food provided by her Cooper elders who operated the Camden County Poor Farm, and the countless memories of her customers she served her whole life. During World War II she moved to Kansas City, Missouri to work in a defense munitions plant welding practice bombs for the military. She moved back to Eldon, Missouri where she lived before the war and worked at the MFA store. In Eldon, she met her husband Malcolm "Mac" Parrish. They married on May 22, 1944, in Kansas City, Kansas. They operated a taxi service in Eldon before moving to Kansas City, Kansas for 10 years. On September 4, 1947, Mac & Lorraine welcomed their cherished, only child Malcolm "Doil" Parrish Jr. In 1954, Mac and Lorraine purchased land on Hwy 5, just north of Camdenton and started Parrish Bait and Tackle. They moved the business to Greenview in 1962. They purchased land in Climax Springs in 1966 to open their new store in 1967, with the addition of a discount variety store in 1970. Parrish Bait & Tackle operated in Climax Springs for 30 years. Lorraine was known to always greet you with a warm smile and a kind word. Her family's success can be attributed to her many years of hard work, her ability to organize anything and her business sawy. In her spare time, she was an avid reader, crocheted beautiful afghans, and made wonderful Sunday dinners for her family. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mac, son Doil, stepdaughter Peggy, infant grandson Michael, sister Gertrude McNeil, sister Lois Baughman and an infant brother Ronald lean. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Judy Parrish of Climax Springs, granddaughter Terri York and husband David, great-granddaughters Katelyn and Kelsey York, all of Marshfield. Sister Violet Jacobs of Kansas City, Kansas and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Graveside service will be held at 10:00a.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at the Climax Springs Cemetery in Climax Springs, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home and are incomplete at this time.
