Louis F. Leer, age 85, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at his home in Macks Creek, MO, with his wife, Joan, by his side.
Louis was born to Albert and Ellen (Maxwell) Leer of Keswick, IA on May 27, 1938. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Army as a paratrooper. He was in the 101st airborne division. His first deployment was in Germany, where he met Hannelore Konetschke. The two united in marriage and had two daughters, Annette and Catherine. Louis served twenty-two years in the Army and retired as Command Sergeant Major of the Presidio of Monterey and Defense Language Institute. After the passing of his wife in 2015, he moved to Missouri that same year.
In 2017, he met Joan Laxton and the two united in marriage on March 31, 2018. He gained a son, Daniel Laxton. Louis enjoyed being outside working on the property & always finding something that needed fixing and he also enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Leer; his six brothers, James Leer, Ronald Leer, Robert (Patty) Leer, John (Regina) Leer, and Darryl (Beverly) Leer; daughter, Annette (Wesley) Renfro; son Daniel (Amber) Laxton; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dean Leer; his sister; later wife, Hannelore; daughter, Catherine; and two sister-in-law’s, Dodi Leer and Patty Leer.
Military Services will be held at 11:00 am, May 27, 2024 at the Leer Family Cemetery in Keswick, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
