L.T. 'Coach' Mcdaniel

L.T. "COACH" McDANIEL Lashley Treman McDaniel, Jr., son of Lashley Treman McDaniel Sr. and Jessie Willett McDaniel, was born, April 2, 1921 in California, Missouri. He departed this life, Sunday, January 19, 2014, in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of ninety-two years, nine months and seventeen days. On August 10, 1944 in Albany, New York, he was united in marriage to Shirley Irene Hesser and to this union six children were born. Together they shared fifty-three years of marriage until her passing on April 24, 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Shaelee McDaniel; a brother, Lyndon McDaniel and a sister, Virginia York. Survivors include six children, Lashley Treman "Chip" McDaniel III of Phoenix, Arizona, Sandra Viles and husband Ben of Camdenton, Missouri, Michele Jeffries and husband Mike of Camdenton, Missouri, Kim McDaniel of Camdenton, Missouri, Don McDaniel of Tunas, Missouri and Sheryl Moore and husband Bret of Greenview, Missouri; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many friends. L.T. was raised in Latham, Missouri and moved to Camdenton in 1941 where he played basketball for the Camdenton Tigers and won the championship that year. He was a graduate of Camdenton High School in the class of 1941. He joined the United States Navy and served his country proudly for the next three years. He met his wife, who was also serving in the Navy, in New York. After being honorably discharged, he went to Culver-Stockton College and received a Bachelors if Science in Athletics. He coached at Lewistown, Paris and Camdenton and retired as a coach in 1980. He went on to teach building trades and received a Masters Degree in 1960 from Central Missouri State University. In his spare time he loved basketball and all sports. He was a loving father and grandfather and a caring neighbor, coach, teacher and friend. He touched many lives while here on earth and his memory will linger on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Allee Memorial Gardens, Camdenton. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Camdenton Athletics Boosters and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
