Mabel M. Foss

Mabel Marie Foss, daughter of Arthur John and Emma Matilda Riff Mechler, was born, October 9, 1926 in rural San Antonio, Texas. She departed this life, Sunday, February 17, 2019, in Windsor Estates Care Center, Camdenton, Missouri at the age of ninety-two years, four months and eight days. On November 25, 1944 at Hondo, Texas Air Force Base, she was united in marriage to Darrell Walter Foss and to this union two children were born. Together they shared nearly sixty-three years of marriage before his passing May 4, 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and her son-in-law, Mark Zickefoose. Survivors include her son, Thomas W. Foss and wife Sarah of Snellville, Georgia; her daughter, Judy Zickefoose of Camdenton, Missouri; her grandchildren, Diann Foss Eakin and husband David, Victoria Foss Bowers, Nicholas W. Foss and wife Kelly, A.J. Foss, Chad Zickefoose and wife Lori and Marci Zickefoose Carter and husband Jason; her great-grandchildren, Emily, Ethan, Elisa, Erin, Emerson, Jacob, Katie, Elissa, Jeremy, Justin, Nik, Jordon, Kelsie, Brett, Brock and Kyle and many friends. Mabel was born and raised in Texas. She was baptized into the Catholic Church where she also attended school. She met and married Darrell and later moved to Salem, Iowa where she was a homemaker until the 1960’s. She worked at DeJayne’s Jewelry Store before they retired to Camdenton, Missouri in the late 1970’s. She started volunteering at Lake Regional Hospital in 1992 and had devoted over 13,000 hours there. She had also encouraged many thru her time as a leader at Weight Watchers. Mabel made a profession of faith and was a member of the Cross Life Church, Camdenton, Missouri. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and walking. She had created many keepsakes for her family thru her counted cross stitch projects. Mable loved taking care of her two dogs, Muffy and Peanut. The time she treasured most, was time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 21, 2019 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri. Burial will follow in Allee Memorial Gardens, Camdenton. Visitation will be from 10:00-10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Lake Regional Hospital Volunteer Program and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri.
