MABEL McDONALD Mabel McDonald, daughter of Owen and Martha Jane Sowards Weigart was born December 26, 1920 in rural Worth County, Missouri. She departed this life Friday, February 11, 2011 in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of ninety years, one month and sixteen days. On June 10, 1946 in Kansas City, Kansas she was united in marriage to Willard Ross McDonald and to this union five children were born. Together they shared twenty years of marriage until his passing on December 23, 1967. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Janie Flockhart; two grandchildren, Justin and Brooke Flockhart; a brother Harold Weigart, a brother Dale Weigart and a sister, June Dougherty. Survivors include her children, Jack McDonald and wife Gilda of Kansas City, Missouri, Mike McDonald and wife Donna of Ashland, Virginia, Nancy Hance and husband Bruce of Moscow Mills, Missouri and Tony McDonald and wife Michele of Camdenton, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren, Jill Gomez and husband Antonio, Brad McDonald and wife Amy, Kris McDonald and wife Ashley , Matt McDonald, Kelly Croucher and husband Mark, Patrick McDonald and wife Jennifer, Angie Robinson and husband Doug, Joshua Hance, Rae Anna Gremminger and husband Kasey, Tazia Harrington and husband Dustin, A.J. McDonald and Peggy, Kari Bearden and husband Ryan, and Kelly Kaiser; seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Evans of Eureka, California and Thelma Gladman of Mound City, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Mabel was raised in rural Worth County, Missouri and walked to a one-room school house. She finished high school in Grant City, Missouri. She was married in Kansas City, Kansas and lovingly raised her children; the last three after her husband passed away. She worked for Phillips and McElyea Law Firm for several years as the receptionist and loved her job there. Mabel was baptized into the Catholic Church and was a member of St. Anthony's Parish in Camdenton, Missouri. She sang in the choir, was a communion minister, and was involved with the Crafty Ladies. In her spare time she loved to crochet afghans and nearly everyone in the family has two or three of Granny Mac's afghans. She was never able to travel, but loved to watch travel shows on television. She watched mass daily and was an avid reader. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Dale Blair Memorial Cemetery, Camdenton. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to L.A.M.B. House and left at the funeral home. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
