Margretta A Schwartz

Margretta Schwartz (Adams), age 62, passed away peacefully January 21, 2024 with her two

children and their partners at her bedside. She was born February 18, 1961 in Pocohantas,

Arkansas to Lewis and Gretta Adams (Thompson).

Margretta met and married James Stanley Schwartz in September 1983 at White Tail Deer

Shelter in Lone Elk Park, St. Louis County, Missouri. Of that union, they had two children, Dana

Marie-born January 1984, and James Stanley Schwartz-born July 1985. The marriage

dissolved in the late 80’s.

In July of 1990, she met Larry Gorham and they spent 31 years together full of love, laughter,

and adventures that continued even after they parted ways.

Margretta had dedicated her life to Christ alongside her children in September of 1993 when

they were baptized together at Buffalo Prairie Baptist Church in Montreal, MO. Her faith meant

so much to her and the family.

Margretta was a loving, caring, selfless and compassionate mother who loved her children more

than anything. She always wanted to do the right thing first but having fun was a close second.

She loved music and singing along with the lyrics that connect to her soul She never met a

stranger and accepted everyone for who they were. Love was what she was full of and also her

greatest gift. A beautiful Mother and a beautiful soul. Margretta loved her kids but got a kick out

of her grandchildren, who certainly gave her a run for her money! She loved watching The

Chosen with her granddaughter Taelyn, having long in-depth conversations about other

universes with her grandson Peyton, watching Curious George with her grandson AJ, chasing

after her granddaughter Ophelia, and spending time sharing stories with her grandson Asher

and granddaughter Meena.

Margretta always made sure her family had plenty to eat, plenty to love, and plenty to smile

about. She was always making everyone’s day brighter. Whether it was a “Good Morning”

message, new flowers from her plants, bird seed for the birds or random trinkets she’d share for

smiles.

Margretta was filled with so much love and she continuously shared that with the world. Love

was her greatest gift to give. She would turn horrible days into great days. Take any pain away

and replace it with hugs, laughter and love. She gave selflessly, loved freely, shined brightly

and cared deeply.

She is preceded in death by her mother Margretta Thompson, father Lewis Adams, step-Father

Farrell Thompson and sister Sandy Adams.

She is survived by her daughter Dana Granados and son in law Antonio, their children Peyton

Waldren, Taelyn Waldren, AJ Granados and Ophelia Granados of Decatur, Illinois. Her son
