MARIAN JEANETTE GIPSON Marian Jeanette Gipson, daughter of Lauren and Elsie Wichert Miller, was born, May 15, 1933 in Sterling, Illinois. She departed this life, Sunday, October 12, 2014, in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of eighty-one. On August 27, 1951 in Sterling, Illinois, she was united in marriage to James Thomas Gipson and to this union two children were born. Together they shared forty-nine years of marriage before his passing on December 30, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Lorraine Friday of Hurricane Deck, Missouri and Beverly Iben, of Sterling, Illinois. Survivors include a daughter, Michele Dodson of Lake Worth, Florida; a son, Kirk Gipson of Peoria, Illinois; two grandchildren, Jennifer Dodson of Denver, Colorado and Christopher Dodson and wife Emily of Seattle, Washington; a great-granddaughter, Aubrey J. Dodson and a host of other relatives and many friends. Marian was raised in Sterling, Illinois and graduated from Sterling High School. After their marriage, they made their home in Sterling until James got out of the Air Force. They then moved to Peoria, Illinois where she worked in the insurance industry. She was the President of Peoria Insurance Women and taught Sunday School Trinity Lutheran Church prior to retiring to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1991. Marian made a profession of faith and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Greenview, Missouri. Previously she had been a long-time member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sterling, Illinois and Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria, Illinois. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, gardening and sewing. She loved to travel when she and Jim had the opportunity. Most of all, time spent with family and friends brought her joy. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, October 16, 2014 in Peace Lutheran Church under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Greenview. Visitation will be from 10 until service time Thursday in the church. Memorial donations may be made to the family and left at the funeral home or the church. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
