MARIE NICHOLS Marie Ruby Nichols, the second daughter of George Earl and Eula Evelyn Farmer Bean, was born, March 2, 1917 in Caledonia, Missouri. She departed this life, June 25, 2011, in Beautiful Savior Nursing Home, Belton, Missouri at the age of ninety-four years, three months and twenty-three days. On November 23, 1939, she married James Harper Price. After his death, she married Lawrence Dale Nichols on February 14, 1954. Larry passed away in December of 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mildred Ruth and Lorraine Porter. She leaves two sons, Fred Harper Price and wife Irene of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Robert Price and wife Janet of Kansas City, Missouri; step-children, Nancy Hall of Raymore, Missouri and Larry Nichols and wife Martha of Belton, Missouri; three grandchildren, David Price and family of Lenexa, Kansas, Melissa Dorris and family of Blue Springs, Missouri and Joy Coons and family of Grain Valley, Missouri; nine great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; thirteen step-great-grandchildren and two step-great-great-grandchildren. Marie was a water safety and swimming instructor for the American Red Cross, YMCA and Parks and Recreation Dept. of Kansas City, Missouri. She belonged to the Fire Department's Fire Birds Club, the Extension Club and was a TOPS Club queen. She was involved with the AAU Athletics USA. As noted in her 1935 St. Louis McKinley High School year book, "As an athlete, she can't be beat." Marie lived with her family in Northeast Kansas City, Missouri for over thirty years. Larry and Marie spent over 40 years living on the Lake of the Ozarks, where she loved fishing, swimming and teaching others to swim and water ski. Marie was a member of the Camdenton United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother who dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed. Graveside funeral services and burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday June 27, 2011 in Mose Clark Cemetery (Lake Road 7-13), Climax Springs Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross-Joplin Relief. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
