MARTHA BROWN Martha Ann Brown, daughter of McClellan Warren and Vera Mae Foster Heavilin, was born, April 11, 1933 in Marion, Indiana the eleventh child of fifteen. She departed this life, Sunday, October 19, 2014, in her home, Camdenton, Missouri at the age of eighty-one years, six months and eight days. On April 9, 1988, she married her second husband, Keith Brown in Encinitas, California. She was preceded in death by her parents; ten siblings, Ruth Heavilin, James Heavilin, Margaret Dunham, Eunice Black, Robert Heavilin, Clara Kidder, Ronald Heavilin, George Heavilin, Kathryn Cutting and Mary Eltzroth. Survivors include her husband, D. Keith Brown of the home; a son, Todd Long and wife Zenaida of Hayward, California; a daughter, Tamara Brown and husband Bret (who is also a step-son to Martha) of Camdenton, Missouri; five grandchildren, Brandi L. Bartel and husband Jonnathan of Fair Grove, Missouri, Bret D. Brown, Jr. and wife Melissa of New York City, New York, Dustin M. Brown and wife Sherri of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; Sophia Long and Jeremiah Long both of Hayward, California; three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn R. Brown and Noelle M. Brown both of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Eliza J. Brown of New York City, New York; step-children, Brenda K. Brown of Grand Junction, Colorado, Bradly S. Brown of San Diego, California and Barth Brown of California; a step-grandson, Ryan Brown and wife Katie of Buffalo, New York; four siblings, Paul E. Heavilin and wife Virginia of Muskegon, Michigan, John Heavilin of Marion, Indiana, Lois Drown and husband Benjamine of Springbrook, Illinois and Charles Heavilin and Barbara of Gardendale, Alabama and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Martha was raised in Marion, Indiana and graduated from Marion College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She lived her early adulthood in the vicinity of Rockford, Illinois and Southern California. She was a switchboard operator, a pastor's wife, a school teacher and an administrator at doctor's offices. Martha made a profession of faith and was a member of New Life Church of the Nazarene. Throughout her lifetime, she was an active member of her church, where she led women's, youth and children's ministries. She also played organ and piano and or sang in the choirs. While raising her two children, she stayed an involved parent in their various activities such as being a Cub Scout Den Mother and a leader in Girl Scouts. Martha loved playing music. She also enjoyed collecting antiques and cameos. Embroidery, sewing, decorating and being an open and warm hearted hostess made her happy. Most of all, she loved surrounding herself with friends and family. She was the center of her family as a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a treasured friend to many wherever she went. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, October 26, 2014 in New Life Church of the Nazarene under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home.
