Martin “Marty” Leon Copeland, son of Lawrence Doc and Nancy (Branson) Copeland, was born June 14, 1952 in Jefferson City, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, November 3, 2022 in his home, at the age of seventy-years, four months, and twenty days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and one brother.
Marty is survived by his son, Leon Copeland and fiancée Lindsey Wright of Camdenton, Missouri; a granddaughter, Annabelle Copeland; a brother, Lawrence “Mouse” Copeland and wife Janie, of Freeburg, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Marty grew up in in the Jefferson City area and was a graduate of Jefferson City High School. While he was in high school, Marty was a drummer in a local band. Following graduation, Marty entered into the United States Army and served as a Surgery Technician while stationed in Alabama. After Marty was honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to Missouri to make his home. He briefly worked at Modern Business Systems and later started his career in the Hotel Management and Hospitality Industry where he worked for many years.
Marty was an avid Kansas City Royal and St. Louis Cardinal fan and attended many games throughout the years with his son Leon. He was a fan of Michael Jordan and enjoyed watching John Wayne movies. He was known for his fried chicken and gravy and also as a hard worker. He loved spending time with his family and fishing with his son.
Marty was a loving father and grandfather was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will treasure the many wonderful memories he has created for his family and friends.
