Mary Kathryn Iiams Pittman, daughter of Smith H. and Geneva (Foster) Iiams was born November 20, 1942 at Springfield, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Osage Beach Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center at the age of eighty-one years, ten months and twenty-three days.
On July 23, 1962, Mary Kathryn was united in marriage to John David (J.D.) Pittman in Sedalia, Missouri. Together they shared fifty years until his passing on November 15, 2012.
Mary Kay graduated from Camdenton High School n the Class of 1960, and received an Associate of Arts Degree from William Woods University in 1962. Following graduation, she worked as a substitute teacher at Camdenton R-3 Schools, was a secretary and switchboard operator at Camdenton High School, and was a secretary in the Camdenton Junior High Guidance and Counseling Office. She later worked as a Senior Teller at Central Bank of the Lake of the Ozarks for over thirty years, retiring in the Spring of 2012.
In her spare time, Mary Kay especially enjoyed riding behind her husband on their Harley Davidson motorcycle and going on annual vacation trips with him to their favorite Colorado destinations. She was a lifelong member of the Linn Creek United Methodist Church. Her church was an all-important part of her life, and she served as Organist, Financial Secretary, Chairman of the Food Pantry, and Treasurer of the Rebecca Circle. She was a member of the Erie Star Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Women’s Literary Club of Camdenton, and the Niangua Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Mary Kay is survived by a son, John Pittman and wife Patricia, of Camdenton, Missouri; two granddaughters, Brandi DeVenney of Camdenton, Missouri and Stacy Silverwood and husband Ryan of Hallsville, Missouri; six great-grandchildren, Jessica Boak, Hannah Boak, Mason Silverwood, Ryley Silverwood, Jodi Silverwood and Faith Silverwood; two sisters, Susan Dowden of Kansas City, Missouri and Carolyn Haseltine of Springfield, Missouri; grandson-in-law, Tommy Burns of Camdenton, Missouri; nieces, Christy Oldani and husband Tim, Holly Garoutte and husband Chris and Katie Dowden; a nephew, Jeremy Dowden; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband J.D. Pittman; and a granddaughter Erin Burns.
Mary Kay was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories she has created for her family and many friends.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Staff and Residents at Osage Beach Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for their kindness and generosity. Also, a special thanks to a Good Samaritan and special friend, Brent Williams for all of his help throughout the years.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Friday, October 18, 2024 in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri. Burial will follow in Freedom Cemetery in Montreal, Missouri. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until time-of-service Friday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Linn Creek United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home at 15 Clint Ave, Camdenton, MO 65020.
