Mary Polly Lambirth

Mary Pauline "Polly" Lambirth, daughter of Thomas Chester and Millie Myrtle Wells Hancock was born November 25, 1925 in Doniphan, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, June 26, 2010 in her home near Camdenton, at the age of eighty-four years, seven months, and one day. On July 27, 1974, Polly was united in marriage to Claude Lambirth and together they shared nearly thirty-three years, until Claude's passing on March 20, 2007. Polly was one of six children and was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Claude; and her five brothers and sisters, John Hancock, Katherine Hancock Webb, Inez Hancock Beck, Chester Hancock, Lilly Ruth Hancock. She is survived by her children, Sharon Hale Redman and husband Lee, of Hillsboro, Missouri, Bill Hale and wife Jo of Houston, Texas, Millicent Parker and husband Mike of Camdenton, Missouri, Sandy Osborn and husband Rick of Camdenton, Missouri, Harry Lambirth and wife Mary of Ely, Minnesota, Bob Lambirth of Sedalia, Missouri, David Lambirth of Sedalia, Missouri, Jim Lambirth and wife Jean of Jefferson City, Missouri; her nine grandchildren, Christopher Hale and wife Melissa, Shari Cooper and husband James, Joseph Parker and wife Brandy, Bradley Osborn and wife Emily, Marianne Parker, Kevin Osborn, Wesley Lambirth, and Katie Lambirth; three great-grandchildren, Devin, Alexis, and Braden Cooper; the mother of her oldest grandson, JoAnne Hale; several nieces, nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Polly was born and raised in Doniphan, Missouri and was a graduate of Doniphan High School in the class of 1943. After graduation, Polly moved to St. Louis where she worked at Wagner Electric as a stator winder for several years before working as an accountant for the St. Louis County Water Company. Polly and her family moved to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1967, where she worked as an accountant at Wright Price Bookkeeping and Tax Services for many years. While working at Wright Price, Polly met the man of her dreams, Claude Lambirth, in 1971, and they were married three short years later. Polly had professed her faith in Jesus Christ early in life and was a member of the Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie, where she and Claude served as Youth Group Leaders. She was a member of the Camden County Republican Committee and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Polly enjoyed fishing and gardening, and later in life she developed a love for painting. She was an excellent cook and was known for her sausage gravy and Thanksgiving dressing. She was also a talented seamstress and could mend anything thrown at her. Polly worked hard throughout the years and did anything and everything to ensure that her children had the best life that she could give them. She was a devoted wife and mother and was a loving grandmother. She never met a stranger and her house was open to all. She was never happier than when she had a house full of friends, new or old. Her generosity was endless. She loved all and all loved her. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010 in the Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church, Laurie, Missouri. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of service in the church. Burial will be held on Thursday in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri. Memorial donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America and can be made through Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home at 15 Clint Avenue, Camdenton, Missouri 65020.
