Mike Pope

Leslie Michael "Mike" Pope, 65 He loved to laugh Leslie Michael Pope of Camdenton, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, MO. On August 20, 1980 he was united in marriage to Susan L. Pope in Santa Ana, California. He was preceded in death by his parents Leslie H. Pope and Mary Elizabeth Pope of Shrewsbury, CT. Survivors include his wife Sue of Camdenton, sister Susan Puryear of Colorado Springs, nephews Craig and Todd Stoppenhagen, both of Austin, TX and stepchildren, Julianne Michael of Tucson, AZ, Gregory Michael of Davis, CA, and Jennifer Michael of Stamford, CT, along with six grandchildren. As part of a military family Mike grew up in many places, including Camp Lejeune, NC, Camp Pendleton, CA and Taiwan, China. He served as a Crime Scene Investigator with the Police Departments of Santa Ana and Anaheim, CA, then finished his law enforcement career with the LA County Sheriff's department. Mike and Sue moved to Camdenton in 2000 and he pursued a second career in trucking. He loved the open road, classic cars, and most of all making others laugh. A celebration of his life will be held at the family home in Camdenton, 3-7 p.m., Sunday, September 15, 2013. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton assisted the family with cremation arrangements.
