Mildred Maxine Patterson

Lee's Summit, Missouri - Mom passed away quietly in her home with many family members by her side. She was comforted by her floral pillows and covered by her lovely quilt made by the Dedicated Piecemakers of the Lee's Summit Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Jack Patterson. Her son Mike, Grandsons Bobby and Michael, parents Floyd and Bertha Mathews, her sisters Beulah Benedict, Dorothy Jackson and brother Leonard Mathews. Mildred is survived by her sons, Patrick Patterson, Stephen Patterson (Jenell), Donald (Crowell) Patterson (Rebecca) and daughter, Penny Post (Mitchel), 9 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.

As a young girl, Midge took numerous city buses to the polio school she attended with her younger brother. She accepted responsibilities beyond her years that would overwhelm most. Later as a 17-year-old high school graduate; she was hired as an executive secretary at GM. There the fiery redhead met her future in 24-year-old Jack. Their first date was May 5, 1946 and they were married June 7, 1946.

Mom was a partner in Patterson Tool and Engineering. She was proud of her years at the IRS writing manuals and working in Adjustments. Owning Patterson Tax and Accounting Service in Stoutland and Lee's Summit. She spent years in real estate as a realtor, accountant and closing secretary for First Choice Construction, Your First Choice Realty and Home Professionals Realty. Mildred had a strong work ethic and was very proud to say she worked until she was 85.

The family wants to give their thanks and gratitude to the nursing and staff of John Knox Village Assisted Living for making Mom's last years full of love and attention. The love and tenderness so many of you gave our Mom and us at her end can never be truly thanked.
