Nicolette Lee Mckenna

Nicolette Lee McKenna, age 44, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 26, 2023.

She was born on January 30, 1979, in Kansas City, Missouri. Nicolette was the daughter of Davis Tyler and Pam Rohm and Stepfather Donald “Hopper” Juul.

Nicolette was a 1997 Pope High School graduate from Marietta, Georgia. She had an associate degree from Horry Georgetown Technical College.

Nicolette was a very proud mother of her children. She taught them many lessons, including how to be strong, independent, and how to love life. She bragged about her children and their accomplishments, especially when one joined the Marines. She would be happy to know that her legacy will live on through her children.

Nicolette was a food broker for Core Food. She fit well in this job because she had a passion for engaging with people and helping them grow their business. Nicolette began working in the food industry at an early age and continued to build her network throughout her career.

Nicolette had a zest for life, when she walked into a room, her bright smile was contagious. She lived her life like it was an adventurous ride and brought everyone along with her. She loved to travel anywhere with her family and friends. On every venture she went, she would make more friends that became included in her circle of “family”.

Sunrise Beach at Lake of the Ozarks was her “get away”, somewhere she knew she could have fun, be herself without having a care in the world. She met the love of her life, Nick McKenna, at Deer Valley Park. They shared laughs and good times at Franky and Louie’s and would go off-roading in the area. Nicolette and Nick chose Deer Valley Park, Sunrise Beach to be married on October 8, 2022. It was one of the happiest days of their lives.

Nicolette was a survivor of triple negative breast cancer. She was a fighter and a woman with incredible spirit.

Nicolette was preceded in death by her stepfather, Donald “Hopper” Juul and sister, Hallie Meyer.

Nicolette will forever be remembered by her husband, Nick McKenna, Overland Park KS; 2 sons, Dylan Huffman (Sarah) and John Huffman; 2 daughters, Emily Sparks and Charlee Huffman; parents Davis Tyler and Pam Rohm; 3 brothers, Jason Moore, Christopher Tyler, Andrew Tyler; 4 sisters, Elizabeth Tyler, Catherine Tyler (Ivan Guzman), Rebekah Tyler, Sarah Tyler; sister-in-law, Alicia Newby (Brent), Brother-in-law, Chris McKenna (Micaela), aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life is planned 12:00-4:00pm, Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Grinders Pizza, 417 E 18th St., Kansas City, MO. A beautiful life will be remembered, casual dress is requested.

A 2nd Celebration of life will be planned at Lake of the Ozarks at either Franky and Louie's or Deer Valley Park to be scheduled later, expected to be scheduled for early date in October.
