Nina M. West

Nina Marie West, daughter of Ira Lee and Lela Hurley (Smith) was born February 27, 1924 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, April 5, 2018 in Lakeside Meadows, at the age of ninety-four years, one month, and nine days. On March 23, 1940, Nina was united in marriage to Carl Harvey West, and to this union five children were born. Nina was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, on October 25, 2013; a son, Robert West; a grandson, Jeremy West; five brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her children; Barbara Blanton, of Blue Springs, Missouri, Carl West and wife Esther, of Camdenton, Missouri, Frances Congram and husband Terry, of Largo, Florida, and Dwayne West and wife Jerianne, of Lakewood, Colorado; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren; a brother, John Smith and wife Mary, of Elgin, Texas; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Following her marriage to Carl, Nina made her home in the Kansas City area until moving to the Lake area in 1964. Nina made a profession of faith as a child and attended Living Word Pentecostal Church of God. She loved gardening and was an avid reader. In her earlier years she enjoyed fishing and spent many hours cooking crappie and tator tots for her family and friends. She was a devoted wife and mother to her husband and children. Nina was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories she has created for her family and friends. Services will be held, 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 9, 2018 at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Burial will follow in Dale Blair Memorial Cemetery, Camdenton, Missouri. Memorial donations may be made to the Living Word Pentecostal Church of God and left at the funeral home.
